Do you think you need a little springtime?  Do you long to see the forsythia burst in a bright yellow display?   Do daffodils make you smile?  Me too.  This has been a long winter for some reason.  We didn’t even get tons of snow like other northeastern locations, but it’s just been cold and sad.  Gray and cold, and sad, and I’m ready for some green, and yellow and any other colors other than brown.  Pretty soon they’ll start talking about the Cherry trees in Washington DC and our Dogwoods will be close behind.

Before all that happens, we have rain and light snow in the forecast for next week.  But today it’s going up to 70 degrees!  Break out the flip flops!
See how easily I got distracted?  I want wish you a happy Friday!  I hope you have a long weekend coming up.  I’m going to get back in the kitchen and see what kind of pie I can stir together this week.  But before I get going, I want to share these photos from the Biltmore Conservatory.

The Conservatory is filled with lush tropical plants and more than 70 orchids in peak bloom.   It won’t be long until their tulips are stealing the show.

I don’t think there was one dead leaf or spent bloom on anything in the Conservatory.

I had a lot of fun with the macro lens I got for my birthday.

These are some happy cactus.

These are all well loved.

I’m not sure what this is but it resembles a cactus bloom.  Very hardy.

This is the prettiest purple color.

The combination of blue and purple was stunning.

What an amazing flower!
Love the stripes!

Furry little pink hairs!

Great color.

I’m just not sure what to say about this.  Special, certainly special.

I heard on the radio recently that yellow roses mean guilt or anger.  Oh you have to be kidding!  I can see black roses mean something not so nice, but yellow is such a happy color.  This isn’t a rose that I know of – but it screams happiness to me!

Another gorgeous purple.

Happy pink.

This is also a happy group of orchids in full bloom.
Some orchids are so interesting.

Like this guy for instance.  What-up with dat?
He looks like he’s been in a movie – like Aliens, or maybe a dancing role in Fantasia.

So much going on here.  Wow!

More wonderful yellow – this looks like a dancing dress.

This one says “look at me!”

Lovely

Their little yellow friends came by for a visit.

I’m an orange person.  I love this orchid.  It seems shy despite the bold color.

Yellow and pink are always good together.

They sure are busy!

I’ve seen these before and they don’t look real.

I’m not real sure what this is – maybe a pod person?  Fascinating.

Oh yeah – wish I had this in my yard.

These leaves look like beans!  Awesome display.

Uhhh, someone forgot to shave this winter.

I felt like talking to her, “come out, come out, you can do it!”

New growth.

Perfect.  Absolutely perfect.

Self portrait.

So many different plants!

A little left over from Christmas.

Pretty petite orchids.

Another curly cactus.

I wish I had this in my yard.  Love the colors.
My cousin and her husband must have thought we were taking inventory in the Conservatory.  They were nice enough to wait on us and found a warm spot in the sun.  Thanks Suz – hope you had a lovely birthday.
One more day of Asheville photos – check back tomorrow for our adventure at the Grove Park Inn.  They have the best Sunday brunch and a beautiful view.  Have a great day!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

We love going to Biltmore! Your pictures are great. Seeing them has made me want us to jump in the car and go there. The pod person plant in your picture is a Stag Horn Fern. They are really unique. They have had that one at Biltmore for years. It takes a long time for them to ever get that big. I am so glad that I found your blog.
