Do you have favorite Christmas music or movies that are a must see / hear during the season? I can listen to Sleigh Ride a couple of times a day all December long. But my most favorite Christmas CD is by Ruth McGinnis. Ruth died October 2009 but not before leaving 5 wonderful CD’s. Ruth was a talented violinist and I actually got to meet her once in Nashville and she autographed one of my CD’s.
As you can see, I have many Christmas CD’s that I’ve collected over the years. While decorating I pull them out and put them in a basket so I can pop one in while at home. It doesn’t matter if I’m baking or doing laundry, Christmas music lifts my spirits, and make the memories so clear in my mind it seems like it was just yesterday I was a young girl.
And it just doesn’t feel like Christmas if we don’t watch “It’s A Wonderful Life” at least once. “I wish I had a million dollars! Hot Dog!” “Buffalo Bill won’t you come out tonight, come out tonight, come out tonight. Buffalo Bill won’t you come out tonight and dance, by the light … of the moon.” Gosh I get teary eyed just thinking about it. Wasn’t that the most passionate scene when Mary is home, her mom is upstairs eavesdropping, and George is overcome by his love for her! “Mary, Mary, Mary!” “Oh George, George, George!” It’s an awesome scene, it’s an awesome movie. Sighhhhhhhh.
I finished decorating tonight 🙂
I feel very lucky to have a job, and a home, and a wonderful husband and great children. OK, I’ll be thankful for the three dogs and the cat too.
Since both my parents are gone, I can now confess that I was a bad little girl. I always peeked at our gifts and even unwrapped one years ago. It was driving me nuts and I had to know! Funny how I can’t even remember what it was.
I remember how my sister and I would lay with our heads under the tree and play the “I see something …” game. It might be green or yellow or red and blue. We would have to figure out what the other one was looking at. We played for hours beneath the Christmas tree.
We would sneak out of our beds and into the family room during the wee hours of Christmas morning to try and spy our gifts. Santa always had 5 different piles of treasurers, one for each of us. Santa gifts were never wrapped so if we could sneak past Mom sleeping on the couch, we could probably guess which group of presents was our own. Fun times, great memories.
Santa says hey!
My daughter Allie has a cute collection of musical Hallmark snowmen.
My favorite Christmas movies –
1. It’s a Wonderful Life (colorized)
2. Miracle on 34th street – all versions!
3. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer
4. A Peanut’s Christmas
Don’t you just love when Linus recites the Christmas story?
What is your favorite Christmas movie or program?
The stockings are hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon will be there!
Thanks for stopping by! Tricia

I am addicted to "yule log" on my Comcast On Demand. It is a nice fire burning (you can hear snaps and see sparks!) while some nice Christmas music plays in the background. LOVE IT!

Hi Tricia, I'm trying to visit a new blog every day before the end of the year, and today you're my new visit 🙂 Came over from Pioneer Woman. I was intrigued by your name "Saving Room For Dessert" because that's the way I operate, too 🙂 Love how that is the theme of your blog!

My favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. Have to watch it every year.
