Don’t you love getting unexpected gifts? The nice people at Epicurex LLC contacted me as asked if I would like to review their Coconut Water – COCOZIA. You bet! I’ve always wanted to try more coconut water products but wasn’t sure which was best. I think I found it, or better yet, it found me.
COCOZIA is USDA certified organic, vegan, kosher, contains no GMOs, no sugar, no artificial flavors or color, and no preservatives. COCOZIA is fat, gluten and cholesterol free. At only 70 calories per serving this coconut water has a natural abundance of potassium and magnesium as well as other electrolytes.
Naturally the first thing I did was taste COCOZIA. It is pure coconut – not sweet, not pasty, just clean coconut flavor and it’s very refreshing. I can’t wait to see if my grandson likes it. Anything in a little box with a straw seems very kid friendly to me.
Then we taste tested COCOZIA in a smoothie. Oh yes – this is the way to go!
Orange, banana and peach smoothie with coconut water
1 (11 oz) package of COCOZIA Coconut Water
1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt (I used Fage 0%)
2 cups frozen sliced fruit (bananas, oranges and peaches)
1-2 tablespoons honey (or sweetener of your choice)
Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Serve immediately.

We adore smoothies at SRFD. We love how easy and quick they come together. With just a little yogurt, almond milk or coconut water, and frozen fruit, you can have a refreshing healthy treat in minutes. We sometimes add spinach or protein powder – yum!
Flash freezing is one of my favorite kitchen tricks ever. Every time I purchase and use fresh fruit, I try to freeze the left overs so we can have them on hand for smoothies and other recipes.
Flash freezing the fruit in individual pieces keeps it from forming a giant lump that can’t be separated until thawed.
I prefer adding frozen fruit pieces to smoothies instead of ice cubes because they water down the taste of the drink. One of my favorites is frozen pineapple – so addictive!
All you need to do is clean (and pit) your fruit and lay it on a wax paper lined rimmed baking sheet.
If the fruit is large, I usually cut them in half.
Then pop the trays in the freezer for about an hour or more.
Once frozen I pop them in a freezer bag and store them away until needed. Sometimes I only have a few blueberries or blackberries that need to be eaten or frozen. They all go in the bag together – no giant blocks of frozen fruit!
Strawberries, peaches and cherries – frozen while fresh and in season. Guess you know I’m going to have another smoothie soon! Here are some of my favorite recipes using frozen fruit, almond milk and lots of Greek Yogurt!
