We (husband and I) traveled to Chicago to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.  Our flight was great and the cab ride to the hotel smooth and easy.  We’re staying at the Drake Hotel in downtown.  The hotel opened on New Year’s Eve 1920 and is still lovely.  The Drake was the first hotel in Chicago to offer air conditioning in every room.   Not that we need air conditioning in Chicago.  It is incredibly cold with wind chills often well below zero.  We’ve walked almost everywhere, as do most Chicago residents.  We’ve had rain, snow and wind.  We knew it would be cold so we were ready with proper clothing and boots.

There is a beautiful Christmas tree in the Drake lobby.
Check out all the Santas and carolers around the bottom.  Each one is animated and each one unique.
Our room has high ceilings and a great bathroom!
The room details are very nice with crown molding and very comfortable furnishings.

This was on the bed when we arrived.  I’m not really sure where this extensive selection of premium vodkas was located, but it was not in the mini-bar!

This is an evening view from our 3rd floor room.
The same view looking right toward Lake Michigan.
It is very windy and cold and as you can see, there are many white caps in the Lake.
Morning view of the park across the street
Crashing waves – still cold and windy!
Hotel elevator lobby – lovely!
The hallway outside our room with beautiful molding and uniquely colorful carpeting.
This arrangement is in the center of a fountain in the Palm Court hotel restaurant.
The Palm Court holds high tea each afternoon.  Some of the more famous tea drinkers include Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana and the Empress of Japan.  We decided coffee was good enough for us!
More photos to come once we thaw-out and finish editing.  Many thanks to my husband for the photography instruction, the great pictures he took and for 25 years filled with wonderful memories and two great children!  Happy Anniversary honey – I love you so much!
Thanks for stopping by!  Tricia
