Should that old saying be easy as pie, or simple as pie? I wonder if either one is correct. Pies are not always easy or simple to make. But since I’ve never made a good layer cake, pies are my thing.
These little happy apples are still smiling after 65 years. They were my mother’s and I think of her whenever I see them. They lived in her kitchen for as long as I can remember. A happy apple for a happy memory.
Do you find pies easy to make? I do think they are more simple than easy as they ususally have only a few ingredients. One of the most important foundations is the crust. In keeping with the theme of this blog, I am going to try and make a homemade dessert each weekend to share with my family. I’m starting at the beginning since this is a new blog and apple is my standard go-to pie when looking for something that almost always turns out yummy. I once won a blue ribbon at a County Fair for an Apple Pie. I was thrilled, surprised and almost cried! My mammaw would have been proud.
