PB Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Have you ever thought you’re a good enough cook to overcome anything, even barometric pressure? Let me back up a minute. I had a wonderful cookie recipe to post today. “Had” is the key word here. But after two batches it become apparent (I’m a little slow) there’s a good reason not to make meringue cookies on a day when rain is probable. Meringue becomes a sticky, runny mess when the humidity is too high. Let’s just say I know this to be absolutely true, so very true. Or … I’m a total failure at making meringue cookies. I’ll just blame it on the weather and stick with that story.

So I moved on to another less weather intensive recipe. This delicious combination of ingredients was created by the lovely Mary @ Barefeet in the Kitchen. Anything combining chocolate and peanut butter will often get my undivided attention. I almost feel lucky the cookies bombed, because I may not have had the chance to try this wonderful smoothie.
Look what I received in the mail this week! PB Crave sent me four flavors of peanut butter to try. When I saw the Coco Bananas peanut butter, I knew it was time to make this smoothie. I will feature these different peanut butters in recipes during the next couple of weeks and then give away a sampler of their products to one lucky reader. Stay tuned!
For this smoothie I used the PB Crave Coco Banana flavored peanut butter, almond milk, chocolate syrup and a frozen banana.
Now for the step by step instructions: Put all the ingredients in a blender and turn it on. That’s it! You’ll have a high protein deliciously filling lunch that tastes like dessert. Works for me!
If you want a little icing on the cake, drizzle with extra chocolate syrup before serving.
I’m not much of a Barista but had fun swirling the chocolate.
I may, or may not, have eaten all the chocolate syrup first. This tastes like a milk shake!
PB Crave Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Smoothie
(adapted from a recipe by Mary @ Barefeet in the Kitchen)

1/2 cup Vanilla Almond Milk
1 banana, frozen and sliced
2 tablespoons PB Crave Coco Banana Peanut Butter
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup, plus extra for drizzling if desired
2-3 ice cubes

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Serve in a tall glass garnished with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Serves 1.

You may be asking why PB Crave?

“Our mission is to help save the lives of 2 million children. A minimum of 2% of the profits from every jar of PB Crave peanut butter goes directly to Project Peanut Butter, a non-profit organization focused on treating malnourished children. In addition, we are creating awareness so others will give to Project Peanut Butter directly.”

Pretty impressive mission. I also like that it’s all natural with no hydrogenated oil, cholesterol free, no trans fats, gluten free and requires no refrigeration. OK I do like that it tastes like dessert, what can I say? This Coco Banana flavor is made with premium peanut butter mixed with wild honey, chocolate, and natural banana flavor. Not a bad list of ingredients and a great taste!

Thanks Mary for this fun recipe! Here are a few more smoothies for you to try:

Well I’m off to check on Traveling Husband. He’s watching our grandson while I put this post together. I hear baby giggles and baby talk so they must be doing great. He hasn’t changed any diapers today nor did he get spit up on several times but he’s a big help! This was the first time we babysat Isaac and the first time in about 20 years I was responsible for diapering a feeding a baby by myself! I think it’s going great and he hasn’t cried once! Yeah Gram!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! You’re the best 🙂 and I love ya.

Look at you, Mama, getting free peanut butter in the mail…I liked the flavor concepts, but they were a little too sweet for me. I took the idea of Cookie Nookie and made something that really DOES taste like cookie dough (and with a lot less added "stuff"). You can drool over pics of it on my blog today. :)

Next time I visit I'll bring you some…and I'm actually

I'm glad you liked the smoothie! Those PB flavors sound fantastic. I'm going to start crossing my fingers now in hopes that will give me an edge when you host the giveaway in a few weeks. 😉

Glad you had fun with Isaac. Sounds like a fabulous day to me! (I wouldn't have figured out the humidity + meringue issues until at least batch #3. ha ha Sorry about that!)
