A highly enriched cream cheese dough is rolled up with sweet fillings in layers that may include preserves, nuts, chocolate, raisins, marzipan, poppy seeds and cinnamon. And dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients List:

For the cookie dough: – unsalted butter  – cream cheese  – granulated sugar – vanilla extract – salt – all-purpose flour For the  filling: – finely ground walnuts – granulated sugar – light brown sugar – Dutch-process unsweetened cocoa powder – cinnamon – apricot jam or preserves

Once prepared and chilled, roll out one disk of dough into a 14-inch round.  Spread the apricot preserves.

Sprinkle some of the walnut cinnamon sugar mixture.  Then cut the dough  into four wedges.

Cut each quarter into three equal pieces.  And roll the dough towards the center

Carefully transfer the rolled cookie to a parchment lined baking sheet. Bend the tips/ends inward to form a crescent shape.

Sprinkle with sugar.

These cookies freeze beautifully!   Also, the cookie dough can  be made in advance before rolling and topping.
