Frozen Fuzzy Navel

We’ve run off to the beach for our summer vacation so for the time being, you won’t find any pumpkin recipes here.   Since 1992 we’ve occasionally vacationed on Sanibel Island located on the southern gulf coast of Florida.  We don’t come every year, but from time to time, we like to completely unwind, read books, lay under the palm trees and nap whenever we want.  I posted about our trip several years ago so if you’re interested, check out the photos and rental information HERE.

Frozen Fuzzy Navel

Sanibel is well known as one of the best shelling locations in the United States.  All these shells were found on the beach during past vacations.

Frozen Fuzzy Navel

In keeping with the beach theme I made a frozen version of the Fuzzy Navel.  This is almost more smoothie than cocktail but still packs that signature punch.

Frozen Fuzzy Navel

Fresh peaches are sliced and frozen then blended with orange juice, vodka and peach schnapps.  While I still enjoy a traditional fuzzy navel made with orange juice, vodka, and schnapps then served on the rocks, the addition of fresh frozen peaches adds a “smoothie” touch which I love.

PRINT RECIPE
A frozen version of the classic Fuzzy Navel made with fresh peaches, orange juice, vodka and peach schnapps.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sliced frozen peaches
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 1/3 cup peach schnapps
  • Ice cubes, Optional

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in the carafe of a blender and process until smooth. Serve and enjoy!

We’re enjoying plenty of fresh seafood this week so perhaps there is a recipe to share!  We take long bike rides in the morning and pretend there’s nothing in the world to do but search for shells and sleep until we wake up.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

How fabulous, Tricia. I particularly love the frozen slant on this drink. That makes it ten times more appealing to me! We just got back from Miami beach…we had our fill of pool, beach, and cool drinks but I could go for this! : ) Hope you are having a great trip!

We are vacationing fairly close to Miami – but so glad you had a great time! The drink is part smoothie and part cocktail and so yummy!

Sanibel is such a great place! Loads of birds in addition to loads of shells. We used to live in Tampa, and would get there occasionally. Anyway, terrific drink to enjoy the summer sun. And you’ve made it perfectly. Thanks for this.

How cool John! The shelling is not so great this time but it’s still beautiful. We’re enjoying riding bikes, kayaking in Tarpon Bay and eating at some great restaurants!

Oh, this sounds way to good. And have a great vacay. I was there when I was 10 and still have all the shells I found. I take them out every summer and display them around the house. Would love to go back one day. In the meantime, I’m just going to have to live it through you; while I’m drinking this drink, of course!

We think that is so cool that you still have the shells. It is a lovely island and probably has not changed too much. No high rise buildings, only native plants but they do have two grocery stores and plenty of restaurants 🙂 Have a lovely week!

Oh my gosh, Tricia! That’s one great drink, it looks so colorful and has to be delicious! Perfect for a day on the beach anywhere! Been over most of FL, but not Sanibel, definitely need to go there!

Ok I checked the date on this post before responding this time! What a happy post to start the day. These look delish and something were I on vacation I’d be tempted to have in the morning (shhhh). These photos are so cute and I love that all the shells are from Sanibel Island. My MIL has a cottage in Naples and she’s spoken about Sanibel before. I’m so tempted to add this to a family vacation trip list. Have fun!
