Easy Nectarine Blueberry Freezer Jam ~ get out the easy button because this delicious no-cook jam is as simple as it gets with unpeeled, diced nectarines and blueberries.

I held a pie class at the house last weekend with my daughter Allie and her next door neighbor Ashley.  They both wanted to make our Nectarine Blueberry Pie recipe posted here a few weeks ago.  Allie made a lattice crust and Ashley used star cookie cutters and both turned out beautiful!  Their husbands were thrilled and pie was devoured, and both young mothers got to leave their little ones at home and enjoy a few hours away!

Pie class with Allie and Ashley - Nectarine Blueberry Pie

We had a few nectarines and blueberries leftover from the pie making extravaganza, so jam is the first thing that came to my mind.  I already knew these two fruits would be wonderful together and since the nectarines were super ripe at this point, jam happened!

This recipe is as easy as it gets.  Dice 3 1/2 cups of nectarines then combine with instant powdered pectin (see info below), sugar, lemon juice and some spices.  Stir for 3 minutes until the sugar is dissolved.  Fold in the blueberries and spoon into jars.  That’s it!  The fresh nectarine flavor shines in each spoonful of this delicious jam.

This Easy Nectarine Blueberry Jam will keep for up to a year in the freezer, or 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator.  I like storing jam in small jars that are a great size for gifting and hiding in the back of the freezer!

And of course I like a little biscuit with my jam!

PRINT RECIPE

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 tablespoons instant powdered pectin (I used Ball)
  • 3 1/2 cups small diced nectarines (do not peel)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries

Instructions

  • Combine the sugar and pectin in a large mixing bowl.  Add the nectarines, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla bean paste.  Stir to combine, then continuing stirring for 3 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved.  Gently fold in the wild blueberries.
  • Spoon the jam into jars leaving a 1/2 inch space at the top to allow for expansion when frozen. Seal and set aside for 30 minutes before freezing.
  • Jam will stay delicious for up to 1 year in the freezer or 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

I spent a few days at the beach last week and it was really nice to get away.  I met my husband’s sister-in-law Rita at Myrtle Beach and had a wonderful time.  We never even turned on the television during our stay so I guess that means we talked a lot.  I read an entire book, ate way too much and walked on the beach.  Such a nice break.  Hope you get one too!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

What a fun way to spend the afternoon! How nice of you to host a pie-making party, Tricia. What a delightful way to use the rest of your beautiful fruit with the freezer jam. I still have not tried making a freezer jam and want to try it soon. Thanks for all of the great inspiration!

Freezer jams are great! Love homemade jams and jellies, but I’m just not going to make them the traditional way. But this is easy! And really good. Thanks!

Love your easy jam recipes and this is incredibly easy and looks so yummy with biscuits, Tricia! And what a wonderful thing to have a pie class for your daughter and her friend. I know that I would’ve loved getting out of the house when my son was little and then to have fun learning to make pie from an expert pie-maker and then actually getting to take the pie home…wow! It’s so great. : )

The girls seemed to enjoy getting out – Ashley has two boys, one is 7 months and the other is 18 months. Her husband was a trooper to keep them both and was rewarded with pie! They took the unbaked pies home so they got the full experience of smelling it while it cooked. Such fun! Thanks 🙂

You could fill your pie class roster just from the comments on this post, Tricia!! 🙂 What fun! Do you think you could add biscuit making to the curriculum too? I would so love some of your jam and biscuits! Jam is such a delicious way to enjoy ultra-ripe fruit.
