Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (2 recipes!)
Huffington Post recently published a post featuring bourbon infused desserts.  I was completely thrilled when they contacted me to ask permission to post my Browned Butter & Bourbon Blondies and my photo.  Why of course you may and thank you very much!  There are some wonderfully creative desserts in that post and one I couldn’t forget for Bourbon Strawberries and Cream Popsicles.  I used the basic (super simple) method and made some of my own – Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (two recipes!) – two different recipe ideas for the same flavor profile.

Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (2 recipes!)

I had my first Fuzzy Navel many years ago and enjoy maybe 1 a year, usually when camping.  Since peaches are popping up in the stores lately, I thought I’d try a frozen version of my favorite peach and orange flavored drink.  The first batch includes fresh peeled peaches chopped in a mini food processor.

Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (2 recipes!)

It literally takes minutes to make these frozen treats.  They are highly adaptable to suit your tastes so let your imagination get to work!

Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (2 recipes!)

I used small Dixie paper bathroom cups since I still haven’t bought popsicle molds yet – I believe I’m the only person on earth that doesn’t have any!

Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (2 recipes!)

These have nice little chunks of fresh peaches, Patron Citronge Orange Liqueur, fresh squeezed orange juice, Greek Yogurt, almond extract, honey and whipped cream.  You have to be pretty careful with the spirits – they can get a bit strong if you’re heavy handed.  Taste as you go and count your blessings you don’t have to bake anything!

Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (2 recipes!)

The second batch are made with the traditional Fuzzy Navel drink ingredients. I used fresh orange juice, Vodka, Peach Schnapps, a little Agave nectar, whipped cream, Greek Yogurt and a drop of vanilla.  I have a wonderful Cuisinart stick/immersion blender with a food processor attachment.  It made quick work of these Popsicle and easy cleanup.
Pin it for your next summer party!

Fuzzy Navel Cream Pops (Peach Version)

Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 5 mins
Yield: 12 -15 pops
Course: Frozen Cream Popsicles
Author: Tricia
PRINT RECIPE
A wonderful grown-up summer treat!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cups peaches peeled, diced and mashed peaches (about 3)
  • ⅓ to ½ cup Patron Citronge Orange Liqueur
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • ¼ cup honey or Agave Nectar
  • small paper Dixie cups
  • Popsicle sticks

Instructions

  • Combine the peaches, ⅓ cup Patron, orange juice and honey in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Taste and add the remainder of the Patron if desired (I used ½ cup).
  • Add the yogurt and almond extract, fold until well blended.
  • In a small bowl beat the whipping cream until stiff. Gently fold the whipped cream into the peach mixture with a spatula.
  • Pour the mixture into the paper Dixie cups or popsicle molds. If using Dixie cups, freeze the pops for about 2 hours or until the mixture begins to freeze enough to hold a popsicle stick upright. Add the wooden sticks to each cup and continue to freeze until solid. Store in an airtight covered container or freezer bag. Snip the edge of the paper cups with scissors and peel away the paper when ready to serve.

Liked this recipe but did not care for the greek yogurt. I used all peach schnapps instead of part vodka and the second time I made it I just used plain old orange cream flavored yogurt. I also used 2 cups whipping cream to make it a little less dense and added 1 cup mushed up canned peaches. It was delicious and I thank you for the wonderful jumping off point. Now I’m thinking of other boozy ice cream recipes to try. Maybe cream de menthe with chocolate chips? Yum!
