Peach Sherbet – a creamy, delicious, velvety smooth fresh peach dessert – made with only two ingredients right in your blender!
Tips for picking the best peaches:
- Select peaches that are firm with no shriveled skin;
- The peaches should be very fragrant;
- The fruit should be slightly soft when gently squeezed;
- Check for bruises and avoid damaged fruit;
- Color is a good indicator of great fruit, pick those with deep, rich hues;
- Large peaches have the most sugar, select medium to large peaches;
- Buy local if you can. These peaches have spent less time traveling and more time on the tree to ripen!
Sherbert, Sherbet or Sorbet?
Sherbert – a frozen dessert made of fruit juice and sugar, but also containing milk or gelatin.Sherbet – an American term for a frozen dessert like sorbet, but containing a small amount of milkfat, generally 1-3%. Anything more (above 3%) is considered ice cream (source).(Sounds like sherbert to me!)Sorbet – refers to a frozen dessert made from sweetened water with flavoring (typically fruit juice or fruit puree, wine or liqueur), with little or no dairy. (source)Call it sherbert or sherbet – either way it’s still a wonderful fruity dessert, perfect on a hot summer day!
No kidding – just two ingredients – frozen sliced peaches and sweetened condensed milk.
We are smitten with this delicious concoction.

Peach Sherbet
Ingredients
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 5-6 large to medium ripe peaches
Instructions
- Peel fresh peaches over a parchment paper lined baking sheet to catch the juice. Slice the peaches and freeze (and any accumulated juice) in a single layer on the parchment lined baking sheet until frozen, about 4 hours.
- Add the peaches and sweetened condensed milk to a blender and puree until the peaches are the consistency of soft serve ice cream. This can be done in batches if needed.
- Serve immediately or freeze in an airtight container for an ice cream consistency.
Recipe Notes
- Recipe adapted from Martha Stewart
- This recipe is only as good as the peaches used to make it. With only two ingredients, the peach flavor will be best with super ripe, juicy peaches. If using store-bought frozen peaches, be sure they have good flavor for best results.

Tastes nothing like sorbet, tastes like peach flavored sweetened condensed milk. Was horrible.
Tricia Buice
Hi Cassie – I am so sorry you disliked this recipe. It is actually a sherbet – not sorbet so it is supposed to be more creamy than fruity/icy. Since there are only two ingredients the only thing I can think of is that maybe your peaches were not at their prime? We loved this and could not believe how delicious it was with just two ingredients. All our recipes are tested and shared with taste testers. Everybody loved it especially with how easy it is to make. Again I am so sorry you had a bad experience but hope you will come back again! We strive to please our readers with recipes you can enjoy. I apologize that you gave us a try and had a bad outcome. Thanks again for your feedback.

Well like my brother-in-law says “that’s why there’s so many different kinds of toilet paper”.
Marilyn R Lewis
I added a teaspoon of cinnamon delicious.
Tricia Buice
That is brilliant Marilyn! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Betty
How many peaches did you use?
Tricia Buice
Hi Betty – I used about 5 or 6 larges peaches. Hope you give it a try – it couldn’t be easier!
Emily
Do you have to peel them?
Tricia Buice
Hi Emily – I peeled them for a smoother sherbet – but if you don’t want to they may blend up a little chunkier – which would be okay too!
Abigail Bryant
My blender cannot handle this recipe… Am I okay to thaw the peaches of will it mess up the texture??
Tricia Buice
Hi Abigail. I think you can use fresh peaches and freeze it until firm and it will taste wonderful. If you want to thaw frozen peaches and blend them semi-soft I think that would work fine too. The frozen peaches work best if you want to eat it immediately like soft serve. Enjoy!
Sandy Parisi
Can’t wait to try this Peach sherbet recipe have a mini farm and still trying to get it all straightened out peaches are just about ready picked my first batch yesterday looks like a great way to use my peaches while at their Peak I’m very excited about it found this recipe after my last season catastrophe anyway thanks for this easy recipe going to make it today

I enjoyed visiting your site!

check out my blog sometime, recent post; making Vanilla Ice Cream!
Michael

http://michaelswoodcraft.wordpress.com/2014/07/29/vanilla-ice-cream-2/
Joyce
I made this with frozen peaches and it was absolutely delicious!! I was wondering if I made several batches, could I keep it in the freezer for longer than a few days?
Tricia Buice
Hi Joyce! Yes you can as long as it is well sealed. I would press a little plastic wrap directly on top of the ice cream to help prevent ice crystals. It will be great!
skylar shine
Can you use regular 2% milk?
Tricia Buice
Hey Skylar – I think you could use milk – just start off with a small amount. You may need to sweeten it with honey or other sweetener of your choice to make it taste more like ice cream and less like a smoothie. Sweetened condensed milk is pretty thick which really helps with the velvety texture of this dessert. Good luck!
Carolyn
It was way too sweet for us so I’m going to try adding some reg milk and add less of the sweetened milk.mine was made w blueberries so that could have made some difference. Just way, way too sweet.
Tricia Buice
Must have had some really sweet blueberries! Thanks for the feedback.
SavoringTime in the Kitchen
It does look incredibly creamy and delicious! I can imagine all of the wonderful fruit flavored sherbets that could be made this way depending on the season. What a great idea, Tricia!
Carol
If you wanted to make Strawberry or Blueberry or any other flavor how much fruit would you need?
I can hardly wait to make this, however, it’s only May and living in Chicago we won’t get peaches till
well into summer. But, “good things come to those who wait”.
Tricia Buice
Hi Carol – I would use equal amounts of whatever fruit you have. Strawberries would be good but you may want to strain the seeds from the pulp first. Also blueberries may not work as well because of the skin. Any stone fruit with soft flesh will be better. I always wait until peach weather is here before making this, unless I have good, juicy, ripe peaches in the freezer 🙂
sandie
what about honeydew?
Tricia Buice
Hi Sandie – I don’t know about honeydew with sweetened condensed milk. I think stone fruits would be better. Great question though – thanks!
Lucy
Hi Tricia,
Can I use can peaches?
Tricia Buice
Hi Lucy. I think that would be fine. Either store-bought or home canned will probably work. Just flash freeze the peaches first. Since there’s only two ingredients, the peaches should be good and juicy. Don’t use the kind in syrup, however as it would be too sweet. Thanks for the great question.
Abbe@This is How I Cook

Tricia Buice
Thanks Angie – have a great week!
Dee Reed
Would love this, and have a thousand ideas! Would really like a low/no sugar alternative. Please offer suggestions for making a sherbet, of same consistency, using an unsweetened homemade version of condensed milk (prefer using evaporated milk and stevia/stevia extract liquid or powder). Ty
Tricia Buice
Hi Dee. I think you’re on the right track with substituting evaporated milk and stevia. Not sure of the measurements as I haven’t made it with these ingredients. I feel sure it will turn out fine. Adjust your sweetener depending on how sweet your peaches are. Out of season peaches are not near as sweet, so taste to make sure. Thanks!
