Greek inspired Layered Hummus Dip!
Enjoy this easy to make dip with tons of flavor and a great combination of textures; perfect for entertaining!
This lovely layered hummus dip is absolutely perfect for casual entertaining. Easily assembled with store-bought convenience foods, there’s no cooking involved (unless you count toasting the pine nuts for 5 minutes!)
Our multi-purpose dip is a great starter for your Greek themed dinner party but also doubles as a main course add-on. It’s terrific smeared on everything from pitas, chips, vegetables and even your main course Grilled Greek Chicken kabobs.
A nice layered hummus dip is just the thing to hold the chicken and vegetables on a Greek pita pizza or Gyro sandwich too.
Assemble this layered hummus dip on a small platter making all the components easy to see and scoop.
Dicing the vegetables into 1/4-inch pieces makes dipping much more user friendly. Serve with hearty chips, chunky vegetables, pita bread or baked pita chips for easy scooping. We love making our own healthier baked pita chips using this recipe for Whole What Pita Breads. It only takes a few minutes and is easily adapted to your favorite seasonings.
Ingredients needed to make this easy dip:
- prepared hummus – we highly recommend Sabra Classic Hummus Dip for it’s fantastic flavor and silky smooth consistency.
- plain Greek yogurt – you can use full-fat or low-fat yogurt in this recipe. We love Siggi’s 4% plain Icelandic Skyr for this dip.
- English cucumber – diced
- roasted red peppers – found in jars or on the olive bar at your local well stocked grocery store
- kalamata olives – pitted
- red onion – diced
- olive oil – try a good quality imported Greek olive oil for this recipe. You won’t be sorry!
- parsley leaves
- salt
- black pepper
- feta cheese
- toasted pine nuts
Suggested for serving:
- pita bread
- cucumber slices
- carrots
- celery
- crackers
- spread on sandwiches in place of mayonnaise
Check the olive bar at your grocery store for roasted red peppers and kalamata olives.
There’s no need to buy big jars of peppers and olives when you can purchase just the right amount for this recipe from the olive bar. While we keep olives in the refrigerator year-round, we don’t always have a need for a whole jar of roasted red peppers.
Loaded with healthy fats, kalamata olives are a good source of iron and calcium with vitamin A and fiber benefits too. Try adding these ancient olives to aย tapenade, Greek salad or this Greek Layered Hummus Dip!
Make this luscious Greek Layered Hummus Dip part of your next Greek themed dinner party!
Serve this easy dip as a starter or as part of the main course. Complete the meal with our easyย Whole Wheat Pita Recipe and these delicious Grilled Greek Chicken kabobs. Don’t forget the Easy Greek Salad and a bottle of wine too! Enjoy!

Hi Tricia!
How much time before serving should I assemble it? It is OK to assemble it in the morning, if it is intended for dinner? Thank you.
Tricia Buice
Hi Laura. You can prepare all the parts and store separately, then assemble just before serving. It only takes a minute to layer, sprinkle and drizzle. If assembled too far ahead, the cucumber gets too watery. If you want to layer the yogurt and hummus, then add everything later that would be fine. I usually make everything ahead, then assemble just before serving. You’re going to love this!!!

THIS IS DELICIOUS!!! Made this a couple of days ago and guests devoured it. It’s amazing. It’s on my go to list of appetizers now. I didn’t have kalamata olives so I used sliced green olives I had on hand.I’m not an olive fan anyway so I left an end without any so I could have some. Cut up and baked half of my pita bread and left half unbaked and also served with carrots. SO GOOD!!
Tricia Buice
Thanks so much for commenting Marie! I’ve been making this dish all summer and everybody loves it. So glad you figured out a way to make it work for you (sans olives ๐ Thanks again!
Kelly
Omg!! Took this to a friendโs bbq and it was GONE in no time. Love the melded flavors and textures. Making it again for a family gather. Canโt wait!!

Took this dip to a party and EVERYONE raves about it! The flavors meld together nicely. Itโs a very fresh tasting dip with the cucumber, olives, and parsley. I might even consider putting a bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice in the topping mixture.
Tricia Buice
I LOVE this dip too Kelly! So glad everyone enjoyed it. The lemon juice sounds like a great add in. Now I’m craving it for breakfast ๐
Laura W.
My new favorite appetizer! I used what I had on hand, which was lemon- dill hummus, and Tzatziki in place of the Greek yogurt. I was going to leave the oil out but glad I didnโt- that really was the perfect finishing touch. Thank you!
Tricia Buice
Hey Laura! Thanks so much for the feedback. Tzatziki is perfect in place of the yogurt. Such a great switch. Glad you added the oil – so good!

Basically your recipes were our al fresco deck dining today … phenomenal way to begin the day with this layered hummus dip and herb seasoned pita chips (air fryer is awesome) along with the grilled Lemon Yogurt chicken kebabs (marininated 24 hours) and easy Greek Salad added Butter lettuce leaves. I added Lebanese Tabbouleh to round the meal and my family loved it. Thanks for sharing!
Tricia Buice
Thank you Leann! Sounds wonderful ๐ Tabbouleh is a great addition to this meal. Thanks so much for letting us know how this turned out for you.

It was delicious. Everyone left raving about this dip. It was super easy to assemble and looks impressive, like I did something really difficult. Ha!
